Are you active in Germany and looking for the 2024 Germany marketing calendar? This is because you cannot use the Dutch marketing catch-up calendar 1-on-1 for your marketing activities in Germany. After all, apart from the global, or European, marketing intruders, there are more than enough holidays or other marketing intruders that only apply to Germany. In cooperation with our DACH team, we have therefore also put together the 2024 marketing calendar in Germany for you.

Are you also active in the Netherlands and/or Belgium? Then also check out our marketing calendar for NL and BE with tips for setting up an appropriate marketing strategy and content planning.

Germany

With 85 million inhabitants, Germany is the largest sales market in Europe and is therefore an important trading partner for the Netherlands. Partly due to the similar culture and efficient logistics due to the location, it is an interesting market for Dutch e-commerce parties to enter.

So it would be a missed opportunity if you did not target the growth opportunities in the DACH region with your own marketing strategy.

DACH region

But with more than 100 million inhabitants since 2022, the DACH region consists of more than just Germany. So when you start selling in Germany, it can make sense to start cross-border sales in Austria and Switzerland at the same time. By optimizing your website for German relevant keywords, you also improve discoverability in Switzerland and Austria via organic search results. A great first step for exploring the market in the other DACH countries.

Localization by country

A nice win-win, but note: although German is usually the main language in all three countries, there are also differences. For example, there are language nuances per country, differences in online shopping behavior and consumer expectations differ for, for example, shipping costs and delivery times.

In short, it makes sense to initially see Germany as a focus market. But if you want to really respond well to the various DACH countries in the long run, it's wise to tweak your localization. This helps refine your e-commerce approach before you start scaling paid channels to achieve good e-commerce growth.
