It was perhaps one of the most remarkable years ever. In e-commerce, you usually have a fairly fixed course of your seasons, but this year, the necessary summer showers and corona threw a spanner in the works of most retailers. It requires a creative approach from both the customer and the agency to still catch up on the right action moments. One of the things that helps you plan your commercial intruders is the YG marketing calendar.

Last year, we already wrote there an extensive blog over and this year, of course, we're giving it a new look: fully updated with all relevant marketing holidays and holidays of the coming year. But what should you pay attention to? Let's sum it up for you:

  • Planning is key
Use the marketing calendar to plan your marketing campaigns before the year starts. This will contribute to timely preparation and when you find a good balance between “always on” and actionable campaign moments, you can make better growth forecasts.
  • Take advantage of success
We are increasingly seeing major retailers setting up their own “holidays”. Take the Amazon Prime Days or the Bol.com 7-day one. As a retailer, you can often piggyback on the volume that is currently being created in the market. In 2019, we played here with our customer Tile depot hit the road for the first time with the Prime Days - and with great success.

  • Create your own campaign moments
We already showed that you can also easily introduce your own commercial action moment with the Crazy Riverdays by Riverdale. A full funnel approach resulted in 1 million turnover in one week. Especially in the summer months, there are still plenty of untapped commercial opportunities to boost sales.
