When I think back to our student days in Groningen, I can still picture Johan and me crammed into that tiny student house. Two guys with big plans, too much coffee, and even more ideas. Fast forward to today: Yellowgrape now has two offices in Amsterdam and has recently expanded to Berlin. We help e-commerce brands grow smart in the Beneluxand spread their wings internationally in the DACH region, but honestly? The road here was anything but straight.
In this new episode of the Groeivoer podcast, hosted by Gerhard ter Velde, Johan and I open up about how we’ve grown, not just as entrepreneurs, but as people. We talk about letting go, making mistakes, and learning to trust others. This isn’t a glossy success story; it’s a raw, behind-the-scenes look at building, stumbling, getting back up, and moving forward.
🎙️ The podcast is in Dutch, but you can watch it on YouTube with full English subtitles so you won’t miss a thing.
This episode feels special to me because it shows that entrepreneurship isn’t just about numbers and markets, it’s about personal growth, friendship, and courage. Gerhard’s thoughtful questions created space for us to share openly, including the moments when we had to choose between holding on tight or learning to trust and how that choice ultimately made Yellowgrape stronger.
Listen to the episode and hear how our journey from housemates in Groningen to a bureau helping brands conquer Western Europe, might inspire your own path.
